Donations & Bequests
“For Society, By Society”
The social impact of War Museum Medemblik is exceptionally large and broadly oriented. We aim to be a museum for everyone, but also by everyone. That is why we collaborate with Bureau Halt and Youth Care, we are a ‘Recognized Training Company’ through which we supervise over 60 interns annually, and we work with clients from social organizations such as Esdégé Reigersdaal and Werksaam Westfriesland.
From a financial perspective, it is also necessary for War Museum Medemblik to be supported by society. In addition to a modest municipal subsidy, the museum receives no national or provincial subsidies. Besides our own income, we are therefore entirely dependent on the support of the Friends of the Museum, Sponsors, and individuals who make a donation and/or include War Museum Medemblik in their will.
In addition to making a donation, there are three ways to include War Museum Medemblik in your will.
1. Donating
With a donation, you can make an
important contribution
to the survival and realization of museum projects.
Large or small: every
contribution is welcome, whether one-time or
periodic.
War Museum Medemblik has
been designated by the Tax Authorities
as a cultural ANBI (Public Benefit Organization),
meaning we are exempt from
paying gift and
inheritance tax, so that 100% of your donation
benefits the
War Museum.
2. Inheritance
In an inheritance, you appoint a
person or charity as your
heir. After deduction of all
costs, debts, and bequests,
your net estate is divided
among these heirs.
“This museum, which has so much to offer,
ensures that many children and
visitors continue to receive the message
that freedom is a great
asset and that we ourselves also have a
role in this. It brings joy
that the contribution from my
estate supports this!”

3. Bequest
If you know exactly what you wish to
leave to us, you can record this very
specifically as a bequest in your
will by specifying
which goods and/or what
amount you wish to leave.
In addition to the possibility of including a fixed amount in your bequest, you can also
choose to ensure that a specific
object, such as a vehicle,
piece of clothing, or weapon,
remains available at our museum
in the future for the many students and
visitors.
4. Named Fund
If you wish to support a specific
goal of War Museum Medemblik,
you can also place your
bequest or inheritance
within a Named Fund
in your will (this can also be anonymous).
You then determine the name of
the fund yourself and for which
objective the War Museum
may spend your bequeathed assets,
for example, education,
research, new exhibitions, or acquiring new collections. The
minimum amount for a named fund
is €50,000.
